Listen to ‘Nsawam,’ toothsome new music by gifted Afrobeats/ dancehall practitioner, Agbana. Produced by 9Ner and mixed by Qube, the record listens smoothly and is ensconced in playful lust that attends pair-bonding. Because of the uncompromising authenticity that colours ‘Nsawam,’ it is instantly galvanising in its melodies, while also possessing global sonic appeal. Like other offerings as ‘Low Show,’ ‘Amen,’ and ‘Borla,’ it adds to a growing catalogue of steady staples from the artist. Agbana was born Pious Quashigah. He names a wide spectrum that includes Bob Marley, Jidenna, Witney Huston, and Chronixx among his musical influences. Breaking down his choice of stage name, which translates from Ewe as “loan/ credit,” he explains that he “came to the realisation that we all are living loans, that which we shall account for some day.” On how he navigates the music terrain, which has him experimenting with a multiplicity of sounds as long as the “feel good” to him, Agbana simply says: “Let the music go. If it comes back to you, its a hit.” Currently independent, Agbana, who has already courted the attention of a number of A-list acts (notably Stonebwoy) has also been widely tipped as an emphatic new voice in this generation. He reveals to Enewsgh.com that he is still in talks with a number of record labels.
