Contemporary Ghanaian greats, Stonebwoy and M.anifest joined elite colleagues from across the continent for the Africa Day Benefit Concert.
Compered by Hollywood icon Idris Elba, the two-hour event paraded performances from a tall list that also included star-studded renditions by the legendary Salif Keita, Angelique Kidjo, Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Ismael Lo. The others were Burna Boy, Bebe Cool, Tiwa Savage, Sho Madjozi, Davido, AKA, Tiwa Savage, Drizilik, James Bks, and Wavy Boy Smith.
The concert, which also saw special appearances by international funny man, Trevor Noah, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Rita Ora, Richard Mofe Damijo, Masai Ujiri, Amadou Fall, Francis Ngannou, Pearl Thusi, Nelson Freitas, Boity Thulo, Eliud Kipchoge, Bonang Matheba, Timi Dakolo, Anika Noni Rose, Cobhams, Skepta, Wale, Jidenna, Serge Ibaka, and French Montana with goodwill messages, beyond commemorating Africa Day, was also positioned as a session to and provide hope, particularly during COVID-19.
Presented by YouTube & Viacom CBS Networks Africa, the Africa Day Benefit Concert was held in partnership with Idris Elba. Proceeds from the virtual concert will be donated to the World Food Programme and UNICEF, to augment their fight against the current pandemic.
