In partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MoTAC), #MadeInGhanaUK comes off at the Discovery Centre (Barking IG11 0AD) in London on Saturday March 21, 2020.
Mercy Gyarkari of Musicbiz Ghana, local reps of Made in Ghana UK hints that the show will run on MoTAC’s ‘See Ghana, Eat Ghana, Wear Ghana, Feel Ghana’ campaign, which seeks to ignite the ‘I am Ghanaian spirit”.
In its fourth edition, the Show seeks to promote Ghanaian culture through music, fashion and exhibition. As this coincides with the 63rd Independence celebration of the Republic of Ghana, “we will be celebrating the rich Ghanaian culture through dance, product exhibition, fashion, music and food”, says Ms. Gyarkari.
So far, afrobeat stars Joey B and Kelvyn Boy have been confirmed to headline the show. To exhibit indigenous Ghanaian culture through dance, the Amamere Folks Music ‘n’ Dance Ensemble have been engaged to perform music and dance from all the sixteen (16) regions of Ghana. The group which is affiliated with the Centre for National Arts & Culture, National Commissions on Culture, Ghana Dance Association, among other reputable creative arts organizations, will also be performing at a pre-event launch at the Ghana High Commission in London in March.
#MadeinGhUK is expected to attract over 2,000 Ghanaians and Africans in the UK. Top Ghanaian personalities in the UK entertainment, sports, business and politics are scheduled to attend the event, which will be graced by the Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Barbara Oteng Gyasi; and H.E Paapa Owusu-Ankomah, Ghana’s Ambassador to the UK. Also confirmed to grace the #MadeinGhUK are Hon. Abena Oppong-Asare and Hon. Bell Ribeiro-Addy, the first female Ghanaian-British MPs in the UK.
A fashion segment will display the best of Ghanaian models and designers in the UK.
All attendants are expected to dress in a touch of Ghanaian.
According to the organisers, a new segment called Made In Ghana UK Honours will honour personalities and institutions for their contribution in promoting Ghana to the world.
#MadeInGhUK is organized by Made in Ghana UK Foundation, LaboroGH, Musicbiz Ghana and EIB Network, in partnership with Ghana High Commission, London and Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MoTAC). It is supported by the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), the Fashion Industry Association of Ghana and HypeNet (9Digital Marketing firm).
