Cardi B, the Grammy-winning American rapper best-known for landmark offerings like “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It” will headline the Livespot X Concert, slated for the Accra Sports Stadium on the night of Sunday, December 8.
The musician, born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, is among sought-after global stars expected to make a momentous trip to Ghana this year, which the nation’s government has labelled the “Year of Return” in commemoration of 400 years since the first African slaves arrived in what is, today, the Unites States of America.
In Ghana, as is the case in many other parts of the world, Cardi B has courted devoted followership for many years via viral clips on social media portals Vine and Instagram, as well as for her regular appearance in VH1 reality television series Love & Hip Hop: New York (2015-2017). Her top-charting 2018 debut album, Invasion of Privacy, which followed the well-received Gangsta Bitch Music mixtapes, was named Best Rap album by the Grammy Academy back in February, making her the only solo female act to win the prize. She’s also holder of a deluge of the trophies which include—but are not limited to—multiple BET and BET Hip Hop Awards, American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, four iHeartRadio Music Awards, Billboard Music Award, and two Guinness World Records.
A sterling array of contemporary African music giants, who will be unveiled in an announcement in coming weeks, will join the American rapper for the concert. While December is expected to witness a plethora of grand gigs, Livespot X instantly ranks among the first rank, particularly for naming Cardi B as lead performer.
Also a songwriter, actress, and TV personality, Cardi B is currently among the most influential names in Pop. Her sophomore album, Tiger Woods, is due for a 2020 release.
The Livespot X Concert is produced by the EIB S Concert and Livespot 360, with support from BTL Africa. For tickets, log on to livespotonline.
