Rapper M.anifest (Kwame Ametepee Tsikata) announces a new Simi-assisted single off The Gamble, one of two projects slated for 2019.

“Big Mad,” as the record is titled, arrives as the first single off the EP, days after the release of attending visuals to Burna Boy’s “Another Story,” on which M.anifest features. Regular collaborator, MikeMillzOnEm is cited as producer on the work.

“Big Mad” opens with ambient adlibbing by the beloved Nigerian chanteuse amidst hard-hitting dancehall kicks and distinct synths and bass. By the time it winds down, the song’s instrumentation morphs into a mesh of hip-hop and Adowa rhythm.

Thematically, the joint discusses amorous tiffing: complaints of infidelity, explanations and appeals for another chance, and and their rejection, as well as threats to exit the union.

Signed to Signitdamnit, M.anifest, 36, and a multiple-award-winning act who was named by by The Guardian as “the foremost rapper on the continent,” is author of five bodies of work: Manifestations (2007), The Birds and the Beats (Free Mixtape, 2009), Immigrant Chronicles: Coming to America (2011), Apae: the price of free EP (2013), and Nowhere Cool (2016).
