SarkCess frontman Michael Owusu Addo (Sarkodie), over the weekend, picked up his second BET award out of four nominations, in what is now a historic feat for a Ghanaian musician.
At the annuals BET Hip-hop Awards, held at Atlanta’s Cobb Energy Center, Sarkodie picked up the prize of the newly-created Best International Flow category, beating off competition from fellow international hip-hop heavyweights Falz, Nasty C, Tory Lanez and Kalash.
In his acceptance speech, the “Adonai” star entreated the African diaspora to return to the continent in the spirit of the “Year of Return.” He also asked that in doing so, they select Ghana: “This is the Year of Return and I’ll urge you all to take a trip back home to have fun. So if you are coming back to Africa, choose Ghana,” he said.
