Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, longtime dancehall archrivals who were recently involved in an onstage punch-up at the 2019 Ghana Music Awards, seem to have patched up, per images making rounds on social media.
First published by Shatta Wale May 30, one of the images shows both musicians posing for a picture presumably after peace talks. The image bore the following caption:
“Unity is strength Love is the key to many doors Brotherhood is Loyalty Peace is Freedom. My brother and I got a great vision for Ghana music and we taking it to the world.”
The meeting was reportedly convened by broadcaster Nana Aba Anamoah, who is also captured in other photos along with artist managers Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson (Bulldog) and Sidi Mohammed (Black Sidi).
Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy were arrested May 19 following the VVGMA incident. They were swiftly hauled before court Wednesday, May 22 where they were charged for Offensive Conduct to Breaches of the Peace. They both pleaded not guilty.
On that fateful morning, when Stonebwoy had gone up the podium to receive the trophy for Reggae/ Dancehall Artist of the Year, which he had just emerged winner of, Shatta Wale, in the company of a dozen hangers-on, charging towards the stage too. And though it is reported the Shatta Movement frontman had gone to congratulate his arc-rival, the gesture led to a punch-up, leaving multiple people injured and marring the event, which was the 20th year it was being staged.
Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale have been banned from taking part in the Ghana Music Awards. They have also been stripped of their respective awards at the just ended awards ceremony, and have been asked to return their plaques to the organizers.
They re-appear in court, June 20.
