Popular Ghanaian MC, Myster Pratt (Kwesi Pratt Yamoah) and photographer Lester Wellington (iPhoto) were the country’s sole representatives at the recently-held 2019 East African Wedding Show, which came off at the Kigali Convention Centre (Rwanda) on February 9 and 10.

The two-day event, put together by Ikaze Professionals, consisted fashion shows, talk shows attended by top names in the trade including Nigerian fashion icon Mai Atafo, Germaine M. Bugingo (Rwanda), and Nigeria’s Mercy Akamo of BellaNaija fame, networking sessions among other activities catering specifically to weddings. The occasion also provided avenue for stakeholders in the wedding industry to showcase their creations, ranging from apparel, rings and accessories, décor etc.

Professionals like wedding planners, make-up artists, deejays, designers, photographers, entertainers, as well as patrons from all across Africa to participate in activities and interactions geared toward harnessing our collective potentials which organizers are confident will propel the ever-growing industry to new heights.

Ghana’s representatives at the show included Myster Pratt, who compered proceedings and burgeoning photographer, iPhoto. The programme had A-list Rwandese recording artist and OAP, Aline Gahongayire as co-host.

Speaking exclusively to ENEWS, Myster Pratt stressed what an honour and delight it was for him to have been named MC for the event:

“Being the only MC representing West Africa, it was a privilege; it bestowed on me a huge responsibility to showcase our culture to the rest of Africa, and the world at large. Truthfully, it was also a challenge for me to try something new in East Africa, and I loved the feeling.”

On his part, iPhoto lauded the organization of the event, as well as the motive behind its institution. “As a photographer, I consider events like this a key addition to our calendar, seeing how huge the industry has become over the years. As the only photographer from West Africa invited to the show, it also served as a springboard to spread my wings to the international market,” he said.

The inaugural edition, the East Africa Wedding Show is set to return next year, in what will become an annual fair. Massively patronized, the East African Wedding Show was met with rave reviews and received coverage from international media organizations.
