Accra has been dubbed by many media outlets across the globe as a rising cultural arts hub. Collectors, curators and
and art aficionados alike flock to Accra to get a serving of what Accra has to offer. This year, the FIRST edition of
the ACCRA ART WEEK takes place between the 17th-22nd of December.
The event will bring together art galleries, cultural institutions and artists in the city to showcase local and international artists who have links with the burgeoning arts hub that Accra is shaping up to be.
According to the organisers, ‘’The primary mission of AAW is to galvanise the creative sector locally and to reinforce Accra’s position as a leading arts destination in Africa.’’
The program for the week long event includes exhibitions, studio visits, roundtable discussions, performances, and
much more. One of the central questions the event hopes to address is ‘’How to increase art patronage and
investment locally’’.
There will also be a special project for ‘’Rising Stars’’ in the art scene. Full details to be disclosed during the Art
Week.
