The festival is organized to bring music lovers and fans together to appreciate dance, music and other art forms as well as promote hip-hop artistes. Last year, aside the graffiti workshop organized to develop others in the art, E.L and M3nsa headlined the opening and closing concerts respectively and indeed it was exceptional!

This year, now celebrated as LEVEL UP Art Festival, the 8-day festival includes an opening concert featuring Akan, a dance workshop, and a dance slam with renowned Caribbean choreographer David Milôme and other international and local dance artistes coming together to give the audience a wonderful time!  All events will take place at Alliance Française Accra.

The 2018 lineup of events is as follows:

Saturday,17th November/8pm: AKAN: Onipa Akoma

Venue: Amphitheatre, Alliance Française Accra

Akan will headline the opening concert of the LEVEL UP Art Festival. Last year he successfully released his debut album ‘Onipa Akoma’ and won the hearts of many music lovers across the country. This concert is a collaboration between A-Level Music and Alliance Française to celebrate the success of his project.

Thursday 22nd & Friday 23rd November/11am-3pm: LEVEL UP Dance Audition & Workshop

Venue: Seminar Room, Alliance Française Accra

 This workshop will be facilitated by two international pro dancers who will share their knowledge on the use of social media and other digital platforms for dancers, pitching concepts to brands using dance, networking tips in the creative industry and branding for dancers. The workshop is open to all dance artists. Contact 0501287811 to confirm your participation.

There is a call for dance artistes to audition for the Dance Slam competition. Interested groups or individuals should register by sending an email with a short dance video to assist-culturel@afaccra.org or call 0501287811.

 

Friday 23rd November/8pm: LEVEL UP Dance Slam

Venue: Amphitheatre, Alliance Française Accra

The final dance battle will see in competition suave dance moves and break dances. Prepare to be amazed by the immaculate dancing prowess of the selected participants from the audition. Winners will receive cash prizes and souvenirs. Come and cheer your favourite to victory. In addition, renowned Carribean choreographer David Milôme will thrill the audience with an impressive dance piece titled “ Une de perdue … une de perdue?”

 

Saturday 23rd November: Bless The Mic

Venue: Alliance Française Accra

The festival will come to a close with the mega concert themed BLESS THE MIC. This is in celebration of its 10th anniversary as Ghana’s number one platform for upcoming artistes and creative arts. It will start from 10am with an arts exhibition and sales with good music from Cactus Lounge. The kids’ village will feature our mini performance stage with good face painting, bouncy castle and other fun activities. BTMFest will climax with electrifying performances from Adina, Yaa Pono, Klyvn Boi, Mutombo, Crystal Tetteh, Joel Orleans, your favourite BTM artist and other surprise guest. The event is hosted by PY Addo-Boateng and produced by Miprime Entertainment.
