On November 9, at Blakk Rasta’s annual Kuchoko Festival, singer/songwriter Knii Lante performed “52 Ambulances,” for the first time.
Widely described as “a thrilling experience,” the Junction Mall gig in Nungua-Accra, saw the artist Lante perform together with his 6-piece band Big Hills Band.
His repertoire on the night also included a medley of A Slice of Mount Zion (Culture cover), Cocody Rock (Alpha Blondy Cover), People Get Ready (Curtis Mayfield Cover), A Lala Long (Inner Circle Cover), Can’t Give Up, and Baby Take Good Care.
During the performance, Knii Lante cautioned patron against “party- politicizing” the song. He explained that the song challenges the frivolity among the ruling elite.
He closed his set with a tribute of a performance of Shidaa which he dedicated tp his departed Road Manager Mr Nana Turkson. “ Nana , wherever you are, remember we love you –and this one is specially for you,” Lante said.
