Megalomania is a constant feature about many an artist —but especially the hiphop act. Wherever they hail from, any rapper who has clutched a microphone to their lips to render freestyles, or verses in a song, has unloaded heavily on why no other has done it better. Usually, claims thus can be brushed aside as customary braggadocio which keeps the flame of the genre alive, but when they are asserted by an act whose career highlights include a VGMA Artist of the Year laurel, four studio albums , and multiple mixtape material dedicated to rap, including his flagship B.A.R (Best African Rapper) series, it cannot be overlooked.

Musician Elom Adabla (EL), on a forthcoming episode of REVEALED —seasoned broadcaster and mogul, Bola Ray’s personality highlight TV show — has reiterated his place as the topmost rapper on the continent, ahead of colleagues as M.anifest, Sarkodie, and MI Abaga.

Taking place at the lush White Sands Beach Resort and Spa at Gomoa Fetteh (Central Region), the interview, which explored the life and career of the Afrobeats star, sees E.L emphasise the sentiment repeatedly, even after multiple attempts by the host to seek clarification by throwing in names of  fellow esteemed rappers just to be sure. Yet, convinced entirely about his quality as a hiphop act, EL stresses,  “I am the best rapper in Africa.”

Nonetheless, he credits the effort of other acts who make up the top tier, citing Sarkodie, M.anifest, and R2Bees member, Omar Sterling, among the best bar technicians in Ghana.

EL is best known for the songs “Obuu Mo”, “Kaalu”, “One Ghana”, “Auntie Martha”, “Shelele”, “Mi Naa Bo Po”, “Koko” and “KaaBuAme”, and heads his independent imprint, VO Music.

That particular episode of REVEALED airs this Sunday on GH One TV.
