Now an African regent, rapper Sarkodie started off spewing fast-paced freestyles on Adom FM’s Kasahare Level hiphop show.  And while his commercial offerings have attained astounding success over the years, his freestyles are also keenly looked forward to, as it sparks nostalgia and reiterates the acts place as a prized performer.

His latest, delivered over Jaden Smith’s ICON, sees Sarkodie, dapper in a black shirt buttoned all the way up to his neck, sipping from a lowball glass, and reassert himself as —well — icon.

Spanning 1 minute 34 second, the joint sees Sarkodie name reference Sikkens boss, revel in his own messiah status, flaunt his high-end brands, lament snakes making advances at him, and his attraction to a smart woman’s curves.

Sarkodie is a multiple-award-winning act, possibly the most celebrated on the continent. He’s also CEO of SarkCess Music, under which protégé Strongman Burner, and Highlife singer Akwaboah are signed. His fifth album, “Highest”, is out on iTunes.
