Earl Height Suites Hotel is set to honour Emmanuel K. Nyamekye, an upcoming gospel musician who lost his wife to cancer under austere conditions, on Fathers’ Day this year.
The Kumasi-based gospel musician, who is now a widower, in an interview on UTV Saturday’s My Health, My Life Show, recounted how he lost his beloved wife in a fierce battle with breast cancer, leaving him with four boys aged seven, five, three and two to cater for and protect all by himself.
Emmanuel’s entire earnings and savings had gone into taking care of his sick wife with no help or support from family or friends.
According to him, friends and acquaintances would not even come close to them because of how deep cancer ate into his wife. He added that his landlord is threatening to eject him and his sons from their rented apartment due to his inability to pay his rents.
His message touched the heart of management of Earl Height Suites Hotel, who resolved to celebrate him as an amazing father on Fathers’ Day which falls on Sunday, June 17, and as well use his situation to encourage many single fathers out there.
Abigail Ashley of UTV’s My Health My Life Show mentioned that what she loves about Emmanuel K. Nyamekye is the fact that he did not abandon his wife when things became difficult and didn’t give up on the children; but rather provided and cared for them “and still went on to love them; and most of all his strength in the Lord.”
