Highlife veteran, Rex Owusu Marfo aka Rex Omar, publishes “Highlife Agogo” the follow-up single to the uplifting Nhyira, which features rapper/broadcaster, Trigmatic.
Tailored strictly for the dance floor, “Highlife Agogo” draws from Salsa rhythms to create a masterful trans- Atlantic fusion, something he has frequently managed in the over three decades that he has done active music for.
“My new song is a dance-floor filler with a dash of salsa to it,” says Omar about the record, indicating that his “choice of a salsa flavor for the tune follows the cosmopolitan influences on highlife, which draws heavily on the African vibes of our transatlantic kindred”.
Chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) and a member of the Joint Committee of Collective Management Organizations (JCCMOs), Rex Omar’s most widely -known hits include Abiba, Tokota, Da Di Da Da, Dangerous, among an endless list of other classics. His sound is a fusion of highlife, Afro-pop, Jazz, and other indigenous influences.
