The 19th annual Ghanan Music Awards is currently underway at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The night has been kicked off by reigning Artist of the Year, Joe Mettle, who served a medley of psalms including Owawani, and Bo Noo Ni (ft. protege Luigi Maclean), off his God of Miracles album.
The mother of all events on Ghana’s event calendar, the event attracts music’s biggest names, as well as astounding performances.
Highlights of the 2018 VGMAs include Shatta Wale’s triumphant return after a 4-year ban, Ebony Reign’s momentum for the topmost prize, as well as the inroads of young kings as Kwesi Arthur, King Promise, B4bonah, Patapaa, KiDi, Kuami Eugene, Kurl Songx among others.
Compered by Berla Mundi and Jon Dumelo, VGMA 2018 is a Charterhouse Ghana production. It is sponsored by telecoms giant Vodafone. Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Joe Mettle, Shatta Wale, and late songstress, Ebony Reigns are all in the running for the coveted award of Artist of the Year.
