In the past couple of years, the award for “Songwriter of the Year” has gone to Kofi Kinaata, who has constantly displayed wit and depth in his penmanship. This year though, Bullet (Ricky Nana Agyeman) for “Maame Hwe”, his poignant narrative of domestic abuse, expertly delivered by Ebony, has unseated the Takoradi -native.

Stonebwoy as also emerged winner in the Reggae/ Dancehall Artist of the Year category. The laurel for “Best Collaboration of the Year has also been awarded to Shatta Wale and his proteges, the “Militants”, for their popular tune, “Taking Over”

Compered by Berla Mundi and Jon Dumelo, VGMA 2018 is a Charterhouse Ghana production. It is sponsored by telecoms giant Vodafone. Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Joe Mettle, Shatta Wale, and late songstress, Ebony Reigns are all in the running for the coveted award of Artist of the Year.
