Shatta Wale, Zylofon act and frontman of the Shatta Movement, was on Sunday March 18 at the University of Chicago – Illinois, was awarded a special honour at the 2018 edition of the annual International Reggae & World Music Awards (IRAWMA).

The scheme celebrated the dancehall icon for his “outstanding contributions to Reggae in the motherland and at the global level.”

Easily Ghana’s biggest showbiz brand, Shatta Wale was, in 2016, adjudged ‘Best African Song/Entertainer’ by the scheme. Winner of multiple awards, he  is author of the ubiquitous “After The Storm” album (April 2016), and the Cloud 9 mixtape (2017). This year, he is set to publish  a new album; “The Reign”.

The International Reggae & World Music Awards (IRAWMA), established in 1982 acknowledges and honors the accomplishments and contributions of reggae and world music artists, including: songwriters, performers, promoters and musicians.
