Beloved Ghanaian singer Dennis Nana Dwamena, who trades by the showbiz name KiDi, covers the maiden edition of ENEWSGH spin-off “ontherise”.
Conducted at the Achimota offices of the Richie Mensah-led Lynx Entertainment label (to which he is currently signed), an instructive conversation with editor Gabriel Myers Hansen which makes up the 20-pager, sees the “Odo” man discuss various aspects of love –a theme which he is now considered reference point of, due to the impact of 2017 offerings specifically.
In the interview, KiDi recounts childhood stories which have built his awareness of the concept, the art of writing a love song, how his new found fame is reshaping his outlook of life and love, his mother’s role in his perceptions of affection, as well as the labels “love symbol” and “sex symbol”.
KiDi also touches on the idea of soulmates, disputing the popularly -held notion that we are allocated a single soul mate each in our lives. Citing people who rediscover love after losing their partner to, say, death, he submits that we meet different soul mates at various points in life: “there are so many soul mates. It’s all about who comes into your life first…that’s how I see it”.
A free digital published by Touche Digital, “ontherise” highlights burgeoning names across various spectrums, discussing their inspirations and journey to grace. It comes out every fortnight.
