“Africa, I’m Coming Home” Project” Kick-Starts In Ghana

Big Events in partnership with the Africa HomeComing Group have interacted with the media on their forthcoming AFRICA I’M COMING HOME” Project at Holiday Inn Hotel days ago.

Tipped to be the biggest event in this calendar year for Africans Abroad, the “AFRICA I’M COMING HOME” project is designed to facilitate the return of Africans from the Diaspora who wants to visit permanently relocate to the continent.

With countless Africans in the diaspora itching to visit or permanently move home, The ‘AFRICA I’M COMING HOME” project seeks to simplify the processes involved in visitation and permanent relocation to Africa from any part of the world.

Speaking at the event organised to introduce the initiative to the people of Ghana, CEO of Big Events, Mr. Prince Mackay, said that his outfit and Africa HomeComing Group (AHG) will serve as the trusted advisory organisations for Africans abroad.

“We will do this by organizing and hosting yearly events that educates and promotes the return to Africa project. The events will be used as a major marketing tool and vehicle for those seeking to return or contemplating the idea”.

He indicated that as part of event to throw light on the project and create a warm atmosphere for ‘returnees’, musical concerts, theatre arts and detailed introduction to the continent and it landmarks through tourism will be organised annually.

‘The annual event will take the form of a festival tailored to promote Africa to Africans as home for everyone with root in the continent.

“We aim to first start hosting such events in Ghana a country identified as being the gateway to Africa; and also first Sub-Saharan African Country to regain independence against colonial rule,” he said.

From Ghana, the train will move to other countries in the West African Sub-Region and to other parts of the continent.

“Beyond being driven by periodic social events, we will ensure that information on the continent is readily available year-round”

“This will be done in collaboration with organisations and individuals with specialty in Housing, Healthcare, Jobs, Business formation, Education, Transportation, Culture, Security and technology and social and cultural integration just to name a few.”

Big Events and AHC Group will also have a team of Diaspora Representatives who will be the direct liaison/ case workers for returnees/repatriates.

They will represent each of the following locations; The United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, the Caribbean Islands, Rest of the world for specific African country starting with Ghana.

EXCLUSIVE IMAGES! Maiden Shatta Movement Soccer Tournament held!

Over the weekend at the Lizzy Sports Complex in Accra, the maiden edition of the Shatta Movement Soccer Tournament came off.

The event was put together in celebration of the Shatta Movement, the fan army that serves as backbone for dancehall singer Shatta Wale ( Charles Nii Armah Mensah). The motive of the event, which was also attended by the dancehall star, rapper Pope Skinny, Joint 77, Natty Lee, was to further strengthen the bond that already exists within the family.

Full of fun and laughter, the gala saw winners take home medals, a trophy, and various can prizes.  Here are exclusive Kwabena Awuku -made images from the event:

Over 3,000 Vodafone Customers to watch “Black Panther” this Friday

Over 3,000 loyal Vodafone Ghana customers will, this Friday, get the opportunity to watch the most anticipated Marvel masterpiece, Black Panther and other blockbuster movies at the Silver Bird Cinemas at the West Hills and Accra Malls respectively.

The movie, which premieres globally this Friday, is a 2018 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Black Panther. The film is directed by Ryan Coogler and stars Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa, king of Wakanda. T’Challa returns home after a journey to find his sovereignty challenged by a long-time adversary in a conflict that has global consequences.

Commenting on the initiative Patricia Obo-Nai, Ag. Director of Sales and Marketing at Vodafone Ghana said:

‘’We are excited that our customers will get to watch Black Panther and other blockbuster movies as part of our quarterly movie experience dubbed “Vodafone X Insomnia.” The all-night movie experience is one of our numerous loyalty programmes designed to reward and show appreciation to our customers.’’

She added that Vodafone will take over the entire SilverBird Cinema halls at the West Hills and Accra Malls to deliver this memorable movie experience and quality entertainment to its customers. Patrons will also be refreshed with free drinks and popcorn during the event.

Black Panther has already broken pre-sale ticket records and is making review history. The film currently holds a 98 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes (it was at 100 percent for a while), but even more impressively, the Marvel film holds the title for the highest rated live-action superhero movie ever.

Veteran actor Super OD passes

Ghanaian movie legend Asonaba Kweku Darko, better known as Super OD, has reportedly died this morning, February 13.

Over an influential career beginning in the 1970s, the funny man starred in a variety of roles in popular productions, such as the movies Fatal Decision and Double Cross, as well as the Akan Drama on GTV. The actor began his career in the Oppong Drama Group which later became known as Osofo Dodzie Group.

Father of 14 children, Super OD was aged 82.

2018 VGMAs scheduled for April 14!

Charterhouse Ghana, organisers of the annual Ghana Music Awards, have announced a line -up of events for this year’s edition.

This was made known at a press conference this morning, February 9.

The festival, sponsored by telecom giant Vodafone, comprises an official launch on March 5, a nominees’ jam in Cape Coast on March 24, a music seminar at the Movënpick Hotel on 12th April, and the main event at the Accra International Conference Centre on April 14. The main event will be followed by a celebration jam in Tema on April 28.

A total of 709 nominations were received for the scheme, about 72% which received online.

Singer Joe Mettle, currently holds the ultimate title of Artist of the Year, something widely believed to be   snatched by dancehall singer Ebony, who was reported dead last night in an accident on the Sunyani – Kumasi road.

Peter Sedufia -directed ‘Sidechic Gang’ premieres this March!

OldFilm Production, the outfit that published award-winning  period piece “Keteke”, is set to follow it up with highly-anticipated comedy ‘Sidechic Gang’ this March.

Starring Nana Ama McBrown, Lydia Forson, Sika Osei, Adjetey Anang, Bernard Nyarko, Eddie Kufour, Akorfa Edjeane among others, the movie is expected to prove a landmark piece, like “Keteke” did when it was released last year.

Director and CEO of OldFilm Productions, Peter Sedufia, is confident that the motion picture is headed  “beyond the horizon” when it is finally outdoored on March 3 at the Silverbird Cinemas (Accra Mall and West Hill Mall).

 

Synopsis:

“Three female friends find out they can make fortunes from exposing cheating husbands and boyfriends after making tons of cash unexpectedly from reporting a cheating husband to the wife.

They quit their ushering job to set up “Sidechic Gang” – an agency solely dedicated to clamping down the side chick menace. Their services are available to only women.

After few exposè, their Sidechic Gang becomes popular, attracting traffic from victims of side chicks. This translates into more cash for them. The men in the town are unhappy with the sudden popularity of the gang.

The Sidechic Gang’s biggest deal is yet to hit them. It comes from a filthy rich man who suspects his fiancée is cheating on him. He is aware the gang does not serve men, but,                      he is willing to pay anything it costs to justify his suspicion. The gang takes on the task. They know what this means for their bank account. Their greatest opposition, however,             is the many aggrieved men who benefit from the services of side chicks, and would do anything to ensure they fail.

Will the Sidechic Gang succeed in their quest or, the aggrieved men will?”

Shatta Wale stars in Kejetia Vs. Makola – THE MOVIE!

Beloved dancehall act, Shatta Wale, will star in a film adaptation of popular sitcom Kejetia Vs. Makola. It will be his second stint onset a movie, after appearing on Shattered Lives in 2016.

The motion picture, scheduled for release sometime this year, sees the “Taking Over” man perform alongside known faces of the Liezer Legacy production: Lawyer Ntim (Richmond Xavier Amoakoh), Judge Louis Lamis (Louis Lamis) among others.

Shatta Wale recently signed with creative arts giant ZYLOFON Music, for a reported fee of $1.5 million. Here are behind-the-scenes images of the production:
