After more than two decades of countless laughs and unforgettable moments, E!’s iconic comedy franchise, will sign off to “Joan Rangers” one last time when Fashion Police: The Farewell series finale special airs 29 November 6pm on E! (DStv Channel 124)

Helmed by the legendary comedian and series co-creator Joan Rivers since its inception in 1995, Fashion Police forever changed the pop culture conversation covering every major award show and fashion event through the lens of its signature opinionated, relatable and self-deprecating comedic commentary.  Following Joan’s passing in 2014, the franchise continued with the blessing of her daughter and executive producer on the show since launch, Melissa Rivers, who became a co-host in 2015.

The current panel also includes Giuliana Rancic, Brad Goreski, NeNe Leakes, and Margaret Cho.  Over the past 20 years, the show has welcomed some of the most notable celebrities from the worlds of fashion, entertainment and sports, ranging from Gigi Hadid and Nicki Minaj to Laila Ali and Martha Stewart, who have joined the Fashion Police to share some laughs and discuss their favourite fashion hits and misses.

“Fashion Police has been a red-carpet mainstay for over two decades that has been emulated across the entertainment landscape,” said Adam Stotsky, President, E!  “Joan’s beloved no-holds-barred style fuelled the franchise’s clever approach to fashion and comedy, and we are incredibly proud of its long-running success.  We are also especially grateful to Melissa, as well as Giuliana, Brad, Nene, Margaret and the entire Fashion Police team, who have continued to deliver the laughs and make this iconic franchise truly one of a kind.”

“Thank you to E! for having the vision to see the potential of Fashion Police which changed both the entertainment and fashion industries,” said Melissa Rivers.  “I am truly proud to be part of this legacy.”

Hosted by executive producer Melissa Rivers, and co-hosts Giuliana Rancic, Brad Goreski, NeNe Leakes, and Margaret Cho, the network will commemorate the franchise with Fashion Police: The Farewell, a look back at the show’s most memorable moments from many famous faces who have stopped by the set and the outrageous fashion debates that ensued.

Viewers can also expect some of the funniest, most jaw-dropping jokes and fan favourite segments such as “B%&$h Stole My Look,” “Guess Me From Behind,” and “Starlet or Streetwalker,” and a slew of surprise celebrity guests will join in the celebration of the comedy series that revolutionized the fashion world.

The special will take viewers behind the scenes with insider scoop from the cast and crew and reveal never-before-seen footage from the ground-breaking series including an unaired 80’s themed episode with Joan and the gang.

“Joan Rangers” can share their favorite Fashion Police memories on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook using the hashtag #FashionPolice.

Wiyaala rolls out new radio show!

Published

on

Wiyaala, Ghana’s international singing star, is to host a new weekly show on Radio Progress, the Upper West Region’s first and most popular radio station.

The 90 minute slot billed, “Time With Wiyaala”, will run every Thursday from 8pm to 9.30pm starting 23rd November. Wiyaala’s brief is to play music by some of the Upper West’s leading talents, old and new, and to chat with artists about their careers and aspirations as musicians in the “forgotten” region.

“I’ll be trying to introduce my audience to the diverse forms of music that exist in our region.  Whilst technology is helpful to music making, I feel we are in danger of losing something of value if we don’t draw on our rich heritage when making modern music. I’ll be encouraging the young musicians to work on their live performance skills. Artists who mime are unlikely to make it to international stages. The platform also gives me the opportunity to push the causes of children and young women”, the singer said.

Wiyaala is an officially appointed GACA (Ghana Against Child Abuse) and UNICEF Ghana influencer.

Radio Progress was brought to the airwaves by the Wa Catholic Diocese in February 1997 as an initiative to contribute to the development of the Upper West Region and aims to reach all segments of the community. Now twenty years old, the station broadcasts in English, Dagaare, Waale, Sissali and Briffor.

The 4th edition of the Radio Progress Music Awards (PRUMAS) 2017, will take place at In Service, Wa,  on the 30th December. Wiyaala was appointed a music ambassador for PRUMAS at the first edition in 2014. She has since gone on to win many national and international awards and is currently Ghana’s most awarded and nominated artist at AFRIMA, the African continent’s biggest awards scheme.

A biopic movie which tells the story of the rise and fall of Paralympian Oscar Pistorius, Oscar Pistorius: Blade Runner Killer will air on Lifetime (DStv channel 131) this Saturday 18 November at 6pm. The made-for-television movie, written by Amber Benson and co-produced by ThinkFactory Media, is based on a true story and public records.

The movie tells the story of the world-renowned sprint runner Oscar Pistorius (played by Andreas Damm) who was dubbed ‘Blade Runner’ and his rise to fame as a gold medalist Paralympic champion and as the first double-leg amputee to participate in the Olympics. The movie looks at Oscar’s resilience to overcome his disability, combined with his apparent fairy tale relationship with model Reeva Steenkap (played by Toni Garrn). On Valentines’ Day of 2013, Oscar Pistorius shot and killed his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp behind a closed bathroom door, saying he thought he was shooting at an intruder. He has since been convicted and is serving time in jail. Oscar Pistorius: Blade Runner Killer also looks at how Reeva’s brutal death shocked the world and details the court room drama that followed.

The families of Oscar and Reeva did not participate in the making of this movie. The movie is produced by Eric Tomosunas and Swirl Films for Thinkfactory Media and executive produced by Leslie Greif. Norman Stone directs it.
