Contemporary highlife chanteuse Becca (Rebbeca Akosua Acheampong) marks 10 years in the Ghanaian music industry with her latest body of work “UNVEILING”. It is also her first album since joining creative arts empire Zylofon Media.

In an exclusive conversation with ENEWSGH, the “Na Wash” singer has revealed her intentions to to “deepen the interest”  of her existing fans, as well as spread her fanbase to a wider international audience. “The unveiling album was primarily created with everyone in mind”, she discloses.

Becca also emphasizes that the album  was created with the goal of stepping out of her comfort zone: “my first expectation for this album was to satisfy myself by creating something new and slightly unlike the conventional Becca… I think I’ve been able to achieve that”.

This is telling in a number of singles that have preceded the album: “Na Wash”, featuring Patoranking, is textured in reggae/ dancehall, whilst  “You & I” feels like an exotic kind of Afrobeat.

Consisting 13 songs, she discloses that it took 15 months to make, and features Patoranking, Kofi Kinaata, Mr. Eazi and a host of other esteemed local and international colleagues.   “Collaboration consideration was based on artistes withrelevance, spread, personal relationships and most importantly, artists my music intuition picked as soon as I heard the beats”, she explains regarding her choice of guest acts.

“I have some other artists I really would have loved to feature on this album and I still can’t wait to work with”, she also points out.

Tonight, the project will be unveiled in a rare listening session to key industry stakeholders at the Carbon Night Club in Accra before it is officially outdoored to the general public.

Becca is author of two other albums: Sugar (2007), and Time 4 Me (2013). She’s also recipient of several honours including multiple Ghana Music Awards and 4Syte TV Music Video Awards. She has been associated with 2Baba, M.I, Ice Prince, Bisa KDei, Uluru, Hugh Masekela among others.
