Reggae/Dancehall icon Charles Nii Armah Mensah (Shatta Wale) was on July 8, honoured with the “Key To The City” of Worcester, Massachusetts.
The “Dancehall King” received the honour after a historic gig at the famous Hanover Theatre. He follows in the footsteps of child actor Abraham Attah, who was also decorated with the award months ago. The key was handed to Mr. Mensah by Mayor of the city; Joseph M Petty.
Shatta Wale earns the laurel for his “relentless contribution to the arts industry”, as well as leaving an indelible mark on the city with his concert.
The Key to the City is usually presented to well-respected visitors/ individuals who have made remarkable contribution toward the improvement of Worcester.
