It was an amazing and unforgettable experience when the children of the 5 orphanage homes battled it out for the bragging rights and winning prizes for the first edition of the orphanage league 2017.

After a very competitive knockout stage between the teams of the Great Mission International Children’s home, Save them Young Home, Potters Village, J’Ann royal and the New life Int. home which saw the two teams reach the final and Potter’s Village winning by 2-1 against J’Ann Royal.

In 30 minutes of exceptional display of talents, skills and incredible passes from these children was just enough evidence that Ghana has not run short of gems for our national teams. The energy of the crowd, deep passion from the various teams, the chants, cheers and an awesome musical performance from Baba spirit of Angel TV and Lily M to entertain the children.

The overwhelming support from the sponsors of this year’s event, Royal Crown Packaging, the headline sponsor, who is registering 300 children unto the NHIS, Promasidor’s Cowbell who refreshed the children throughout the whole day and donated exercise books and other souvenirs to the winners, Decathlon Ghana; sports for all, provided the footballs for the competition, set up a six (6) different sports activity centre to engage the children and donated 20 footballs to all the teams of the competition and Awake Mineral Water ensuring that the children were refreshed with water.

Empress Multimedia the Organisers of this Initiative gave out the prizes of GHC 2,000 to the winners, 1st runner up taking home GHC 1,500 and the third position, a GHC 1,000, while the 4th and 5th positions took home a consolation prize of GHC 500 each.

The CEO, Roselyn Naa Dowuona, the co-founders Michael Boakye-Yiadom and Nii Kometey Tetteh expressed their profound gratitude to each organisation and the volunteers for their incredible support called on other corporate bodies to extend a supporting hand as they seek to raise a GHC 10,000 for one of the children who will emerge winner in their upcoming essay competition as one of the main objectives of this initiative.

“We have started a very impactful initiative and I can see it continuing for years to come, and we are hoping that the community will unite to support the cause” said the Roselyn.
