Dancehall singer Shatta Wale was the most spoken-about performer at the 7th edition of Empire’s flagship Ghana Meets Naija concert.
Justifying his inclusion in the line-up for five years straight, he was, in the early hours of Sunday May 28, crowned king!
Making a grand entree as usual (on a gurney surrounded by doctors, nurses, and SM soldiers Captan, Addi Self, and Joint 77), he invoked deafening pandemonium which he sustained for something like an hour. Backed by DJ Vyrusky, he dispatched hit after hit from his inexhaustible catalogue of street anthems: Kill Dem with Prayers, Shatta City, Low Tempo (ft. wife Shatta Michy) Enter the Net, Cocoa Season, If I Collect, Chop Kiss, Mahama Paper, Obodorbidi, Hosanna, Ayoo, Take Over…
His photographer Curtis Osei-Owusu (Kwabena Awuku Photography) was close by the action, observing every second of the electrifying performance through his lens:
His entry was amazing! Money woke him up from death. pic.twitter.com/q6NyT6uuRp
