Held at the Florence Gould Hall Theater in New York over the weekend, the debut edition of the Ghana Entertainment Awards produced not so surprising winners as dancehall singer Shatta Wale, Okyeame Kwame, EIB boss Shatta Wale, and Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah (Lil Win).

Founded to “provides public recognition and appreciation of artists, industry professionals, and honorees that demonstrate excellence and significant accomplishments in the Music, Arts & Entertainment field”, the scheme also awarded rapper EL for Best Album, DKB for Best Comedian, Starr FM’s Anita Erskine for Best Radio Personality (Female) among a host of other personalities in the areas of sports, music, film, radio and TV.

Performances on the night came from Starboy songstress Efya, EL among others.
