Leading online sports betting company Betway today announced the details of the maiden edition of its 7-a-side Easter Football Gala slated for Saturday 15th April, 2017. The Betway Easter Gala initiative forms part of Betway’s commitment to promoting and supporting sports in Ghana.

The event will take place simultaneously in the three capital cities of the Greater Accra, Ashanti and Western Regions – Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi.

Each region will register eight (8) community football teams bringing the total of participating teams to 24. Other activities slated for the day include board games, foosball and other challenges to keep everyone attending the opportunity to win Betway branded souvenirs.

The winning team of the 7-a-side tournament will walk away with an enviable GHC 2,000 while the second and third placed teams will take home GHC 1,500 and GHC 1,000 respectively.

Speaking after the announcement, Marketing Manager of Betway Ghana, Kwabena Oppong Nkrumah said that the gala is a great way to celebrate the long weekend with other sports enthusiasts while also contributing to sports development in the country. The registered teams are community-based and form part of our grassroots outreach. We also hope that going forward; teams with fresh talent will continue to participate in our events.

Since Betway Ghana started operation in Ghana in 2016, it has shown commitment to the development of sports and the sports industry in Ghana in several visible ways. Notably, Betway facilitated a coaching clinic for the Ghana Premier League coaches with officials from the English Premier League FC West Ham United.

Early in 2017, Betway also supported a number of community development projects that included the provision of a water storage system for the Oyarifa community in Accra and contributed supplies to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital.
