Popular Northern-based act Fancy Gadam, who edged Medikal, Nii Funny, Article Wan, Feli Nuna, Ebony, Rudebowy Ranking and Eugy to pick up the award for Best New Act at the just-ended Ghana Music Awards, received a rapturous welcome when he returned home to Tamale with the laurel days after.
Thousands of supporters flooded the streets –on motorcycles, or on their feet — hoping to catch a glimpse of Gadam’s historic procession.
Dressed in a simple white long-sleeved shirt, black jeans, and a victorious smile, the Gadam Nation frontman hosted the award high above the car he was standing on, as he acknowledged loud cheers from everywhere.
Born Ahmed Mujahid Bello, Fancy Gadam is also a recipient of a BASS Award for Discovery of the Year, as well as a 2016 JIGWE award for Best New Artis. He shot to nationwide prominence for filling up the Tamale Stadium on a number of occasions (especially last year) headlining landmark concerts.
