On Thursday, April 6, the French Navy Pipe Band known as “Bagad of Lann-Bihoué” paid a courtesy call on the President of the Republic of Ghana at the presidential palace in Accra. The band had the privilege to play for the President.

The President was pleased to welcome to the Flagstaff House, the well-known Breton Band from the French region of Brittany, who is on a four day visit to Accra. This is a visit of significance as this is their third visit to Africa, since over 40 years, here in Ghana, to join celebrations of 60 years of bi-lateral relations between France and Ghana and Ghana@60.

At the Flagstaff house, the Bagad, presented their special ‘Breton’ music performance. A traditional French navy cap was offered as a gift by the Major General Renard to the President as a symbol of the cultural harmony between France and Ghana.

The bagad has already played at the Residence of France featuring Manifest and Lumina Accra Symphony orchestra creating an exclusive Franco-ghanaian fusion music. It played also at the Hotel Kempinski. The band will present a unique musical creation with Ghana’s own artist M.Anifest and percussionist Shikome this evening, on April 7th at the Alliance Française.

The Bagad of Lann-Bihoué is in Ghana from the 4th to the 8th of April in the framework of the initiative “France & Ghana: 1957 – 2017: moving forward together”.
