Parliament has approved an amount of GH¢43,948,409 budget estimate for the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture for their services for the year 2017.
According to sector Minister Madam Catherine Afeku, the allocation is aid them achieve set targets her outfit for this year.
She further explained that this was in accordance of government’s commitment to developing and promoting Ghana’s culture and creative arts. The ministry will wrap up a legal and regulatory framework for the culture and creative arts industry to be handed over to parliament for consideration and approval.
Mrs. Afeku also stressed government’s goal of transforming the country into a major Meeting, Incentive Conference and Exhibition Center (MICE) by channelling significant attention and focus on tourism sites.
Finally, she disclosed that the Marine Drive Tourism Investment Project, spanning over 240 acres of land from Osu Christiansborg Castle to the Arts Centre commences in coming months.
