UK-based Ghanaian gospel singer Sonnie Badu has called on his colleagues to fully back Joe Mettle to win Artist of the Year at next month’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
He submitted this to Hitz FM’s KMJ in an interview days ago, where he also spoke on a variety of issues including his own VGMA nomination, Ghana’s diamond jubilee among others.
“Joe Mettle is one of the best musicians he has come across and hence there was the need to support him to win the award”. More so when no Gospel Musician has ever won that category, it would be great for Joe Mettle to win the awards, since winning will be an honour to all gospel musicians”, he noted.
He also described as humbling, his own nomination at this year’s awards, and pointed out about Ghana turning 60, that it was a time for truly moving forward.
Joe Mettle recently won Gospel Artist Honour at the Ghana Music Honours, and faces stiff competition from the likes of Stonebwoy, MzVee, Medikal, and Sarkodie. He’s also up for Gospel Artist of the Year.
