Reigning VGMA Artist of the Year EL, Sarkodie, an dancehall singer Stonebwoy have, over the past couple of years, become familiar names in the esteemed category. This year too, they make a bold appearance in the category, alongside BET nominee MzVee, powerful Gospel singer  Joe Mettle, and fast-rising AMG rapper Medikal.

This category, like several others, will be keenly contested as all the names therein have distinguished themselves as worthy of the crown in the year under review.
