“Kologo king” Ayisoba’s latest single Africa Needs Africa is unapologetic social commentary of the Ghanaian, and by extension, the African situation. Featuring FOKN member Wanlov the Kubolor and Big Gad, the song predominantly directs jibes at corrupt leaders who have little interest in developing the continent.
On the song, the artists also lament how the continent could be condemned to this much poverty though surrounded by an abundance of natural resources, as well as the obsession of its inhabitants to seek greener pastures elsewhere.
Born in Bolgatanga, King Ayisoba has always been passionate about the ills of society. His I Want To See You, My Father ( which earned him Song of the Year and Traditional Song of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards in 2013) mocks irresponsible men. Another song: Modern Ghanaians cautions against ignoring one’s culture.
Africa Needs Africa is off King Ayisoba’s forthcoming 1000 Can Die album (March 31, 2017).
