The Minister Designate for Tourism, Arts and Culture has disclosed during her vetting at the Appointment commitee of Parliament that the Tourism Development fund has 32 Million in its account now.

Answering a question from the Member of Parliament for Akwapem South Hon. OB Amoah on Section 21 of the Tourism Act which talks about the Tourism Development Fund, she revealed to the committee: ” according to the former government, the fund has GHC16 million in investments and another GHC16 million sitting with some banks. Some buses were bought and given to the regional offices.”

The fund, which was established in October 2012 from the one per cent levy on the services of tourism facilities including hotels and restaurants, aimsĀ  to support the development of the industry and ensure quality of service being provided to meet to defined acceptable standard .
