Former Miss Ghana winner and MP for the Ledzokuku constituency in Accra, Benita Sena Okity-Duah, will not be returning to parliament, initial results suggest.
The deputy Minister for Fisheries and Aqua-culture who was reportedly beaten by Dr. Okoe Boye who polled 45,259 votes to emerge winner in the polls. Her attempt at a second term in parliament proved unsuccessful as 43,092 of the total valid votes cast was not enough to secure her that.
Benita hails from Anloga in the Volta region, and is alumnus of the Achimota School in Accra and London School of fashion. Her 2012 victory made her the very first ever Miss Ghana beauty queen to be elected as a member of parliament in Ghana.
