Reluctantly Queer, a movie directed by Ghanaian Filmmaker, Akosua Adoma Owusu won Best International Short Film at the 2016 Baltimore International Black Film Festival (BIBFF).

The movie is about the unsettling life of a young Ghanaian man struggling to reconcile his love for his mother with his love for same-sex desire amid the increased tensions incited by same-sex politics in Ghana.

The BIBFF promotes and celebrates films which feature and showcase the experiences of African Americans, the African Diaspora and the SGL-LGBT Community.

Reluctantly Queer previously screened at the 2016 British Film Institute London Film Festival and also the Berlinale (The Berlin Film Festival) early this year.
