The DBA Ghana for Peace Roadshow came to a successful end with a football gala last week at the Ajax Football Field on Legon campus, bringing together hundreds of young people from Nima-Mamobi, Accra New Town, Madina, Adenta, Ashale Botwe and the Legon enclave. The DBA Football for Peace event culminated the two-month peace campaign championed by Dream Believe Achieve (DBA) in partnership with the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), West Africa Centre for CSR and the Electoral Commission, with support from Accra Brewery Ltd. Women Situation Room and Crop Mac. The peace campaign was also supported by media partners, Business and Financial Times and the EIB Group.
Saturday’s soccer event was patronised by some students from the University of Ghana; Agric Soccer Team from Agric Science department and P-Science Boys from the Political Science department. Youth groups of some political parties including Zongo for Mahama, Nasara Boys of the NPP and CPP Youth also participated in the friendly games.
“It’s been two exciting months and it was extremely fulfilling to interact with young people from different places and backgrounds. Participation was great and the feedback we have received from all corners indicate that not only do Ghanaians appreciate the peace that we enjoy, but everyone is committed to protecting the unity that we share as a country.” Said Ms Brooke Nuwati, Founder of DBA.
She added “Thank you to everyone who participated and supported the DBA Ghana for Peace campaign. From our online community to the roadshows to the schools and the football games, we have enjoyed a lot of support. We hope that our message of peace remains fresh and serves as a constant reminder to urge people to act right and peacefully in the best interest of Ghana at all times.
Lead organiser for this campaign, Salih Hosni Mubarack said, “this is one of my highlights for the year. Working with young and passionate people to promote a good cause gives me a lot of hope for this country. The enthusiasm and energy of the team was admirable and encouraging.”
Making a stop at Accra Academy, Labone Senior High School and GH Media School, with the Ghana for Peace Roadshow, DBA and partners engaged thousands of students in a dialogue of peace and urged them to be active ambassadors and proponents of peace in their various communities.
