Joey B’s latest single, 89 makes copious reference to the music and culture of the 80s and 90s, and features popular spoken word act Mutombo the Poet. The song also forms the title track of Joey’s forthcoming debut album.

Directed by fellow rapper Wanlov The Kubolor, visuals for the song also reenact the retro feel as Joey is seen in 90s apparel, which curiously appear to be returning into vogue.

Formerly signed to D Black’s Black Avenue Muzik, Joey B’s  89 album is also scheduled for release  under his new imprint World Records. Previous singles from this project have chalked significant success, prominent among them being You x I. Most of 89 was reportedly recorded in China, and is homage to the year of his birth.
