Singer Akwaboah has  finally unveiled his much anticipated Hello single.  Featuring label mate Sarkodie, the soft highlife number navigates the typical Akwaboah theme of love.

 

Signed to Sarkodie’s SarkCess Music, Gladstorm Kwabena Akwaboah Jnr both co-wrote and produced Sarkodie’s recent live album, Mary, which is dedicated to the memory of the Illuminati star’s late grandmother, Mary Lokko..

Akwaboah’s initial claim to fame was as a master songwriter; working for top Ghanaian acts like Becca, Sarkodie, DSP Kofi Sarpong, Efya, among others.

Months back, the singer reinvented himself, as a fully-fledged singer –a significant deviation from his behind-the-scenes role as writer and record producer. This rebirth was organic as he has released a couple of single in the past few years.

Akwaboah is son of Highlife great Kwadwo Akwaboah, formerly of the Marriots International Band, and he has attributed his wide perspective about the genre, and by extension, World music, to his father’s influence.

In 2010, he was awarded Song Writer of the Year Award at the Ghana Music Awards.
