Nigerian-born Afrobeat singer Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade aka Mr Eazi, has revealed to Accra-based Hitz FM, that rapper Sarkodie appeared on his latest hit Anointing for free.
This might come as a shock considering Sarkodie’s stature in music currently, but a long-standing friendship between both acts would suggest that money is secondary at this point. Mr Eazi further states about collaborations:
“I believe charging an artiste depends on the market you find yourselves. Payment on collaborations depend on the artiste you are collaborating with… In business, you don’t have to take money for everything”
The singer also revealed in the telephone interview that he charged £5000 for his latest collaboration, and that the collaborative project Dance For Me, with UK- based Eugy, fetched them as much as £200,000.
Songs like Skin Tight, Dance For Me, and Bankulize, because of their wide success, have catapulted the 25-year old to international fame, signing with Wizkid’s StarBoy Worldwide, sharing a stage With Lauryn Hill, appearances on Tim Westwood TV, headlining concerts at prime avenues as the Indigo O2, among other feats.
Mr Eazi is currently working on a new mixtape Accra to Lagos.
