UK-based Ghanaian duo Kwamz & Flava are nominated at this year’s Music of Black Origin Awards (MOBO) Best African Act category.
A ceremony to unveil nominees for the 2016 edition was held in the UK Tuesday evening. The nomination is good news for the two after a successful hit of their 2014 single ‘Wo Onane No’.
The 2016 MOBO Awards 2016 will be held on Friday November 4 at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow.
Started by Kanya King two decades ago, it has grown to become a celebration of black people in the music industry.
The maiden edition in 1996 honoured music greats such as The Fugees, Tupac, Goldie, Seal and Lionel Richie.
Ghana has had a good showing at the MOBOs over the years. Last year, Fuse ODG won Best African Act for the third time in a row. Ghana’s first MOBO was in 2006, when Samini won Best African Act. That year also featured winners Jay Z, Rihanna, Sean Paul and Beyonce among others.
