A group of volunteers last Saturday, put smiles on the faces of students and staff of Old Akrade Presby Basic School in the Asuogyaman District, Akosombo/ ER, as they fulfilled their promise of painting the school’s derelict structure.
The Dress A Kid Foundation, led by Kofi Effah, also did minor renovations, and donated clothing, books and stationary to pupils of the school. Speaking to enewsgh, Mr Effah explained their decision to refurbish Old Akrade Presby:
“We were in this school some years back for one of our projects. We realized the school needed some face-lift owing to the important role it plays in the lives of the children in this community. So we decided to return and make it more attractive for the children who sit in it. We hope this will inspire the pupils to attend classes regularly.”
The excited beneficiaries were full of appreciation to the team, and promised to take good care of the building.
Formed in 2011, Dress-A-Kid Foundation also embarks on other projects which involve donating chocolate to kids February 14, celebrating Christmas with deprived kids, as well as mobilizing clothes for the needy. So far, they have visited 22 communities and touched some 5000 kids. They have clothed an entire Island in Dangme East, and helped complete the Mempe Meho Asem Methodist Basic School in the Eastern Region of Ghana. They’ve also sewn new African Prints for Five Orphanages in Accra and Tema with their fashion line DAK Wear.
