Ken Attoh, Creative Director of Sparrow Productions, has adviced Fashion and Graphic Designers to make good use of opportunities available via the internet to grow their careers.
He was speaking as one of the guests during the graduation ceremony of the Joyce Ababio College of Creative Design (JACCD) held over the weekend at the West Cantonments campus of the school.
“Use the internet effectively to share your work to catch the attention of well-known designers around the world. It is important to work with the outside world to get your work out there.” Said Attoh.
He also spoke about how Sparrow Productions collaborates with Fashion and Graphic Designers in their productions. He shared the success story of the production house incorporating African print in their work compared to the initial years when they relied solely on cloth from stores.
On her part, Madam Dzifa Gomashie, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts tasked the graduates to be consistent, and know their work is about pleasing the customer not necessarily themselves.
She reminded them of the many people “waiting patiently” to be sowed for.
160 students – 154 Fashion Students and 6 Graphic Designers were awarded certificates for completing their studies at the school which is the premier destination for studying of Fashion.
The graduation ceremony themed Fashion Face-Off : Couture & Avant-Garde saw designs of the graduates modelled on the walkway to loud cheers and applause from audience who attended the event.
Mercy Elorm Dansu and Priscilla Scott-Oduro won ‘Most Oustanding Students’, whilst Jonathan Djieagu won the ‘Vlisco Designer’ competition.
Joyce Ababio College of Creative Design is a creative design institution launched in 2013 in Accra, Ghana. Established by top fashion designer, Mrs. Joyce Ababio, she ran Vogue Style School of Fashion and Design for 17 years, transitioning into Joyce Ababio College of Creative Design (JACCD) for the past 3 years.
It is a new design and an independent private institution with programs in Fashion Design, Graphic Design and Entrepreneurship.
