Rapper Maccasio (born Sherif Abdul-Madjeed) made yet another case for music from Northern Ghana as he crowned off his peace tour at the Tamale stadium performing to nearly 20, 000 Saturday night, with basically no corporate sponsorship. Back in May, colleague Fancy Gadam brought together a similar crowd of over 10,000 for his concert.

Since April, Maccasio, together with mates on his Zola Music imprint, performed to crowds at Zabzugu, Yendi through to Gushegu, Kumbung, Walewale, Damongo, Salwa, Wa, Bolga among others. Speaking to ENEWSGH months ago about why he embarked on this tour, he said that the image of instability is never a good look, especially as this is an election year;
“There have been some disturbances here, especially in the music sector and that can cause problems or start fights here if we don’t do something about it. Since now I have more fans and followers down here and they are ready to follow or listen to whatever I say ,I want to use that opportunity to embark on that peace tour to perform and preach peace toward peaceful and successful elections”.
Maccasio, still in his early twenties, is steadily making his way into the mainstream, securing collaborations with heavyweights Kofi Kinaata and Shatta Wale.
This is not the first time he is pulling such a massive crowd in his home-city as earlier this year, his album launch, and another concert at the Tamale Stadium, attracted record numbers. He took to social media to express excitement and gratitude.
