Rapper Sarkodie is reportedly in talks with US hip-hop mogul Jay Z’s Roc Nation LLC.
According to livefmghana.com, Briant ‘Bee-High’ Biggs, Director of Mobile Strategies at the label, revealed this in a conversation with blogger Makho Ndlovu:
“We are going country by country. I’m already talking to Sarkodie in Ghana to do something with him,” he assured.
He indicated that the label, which is also home to such global brands as DJ Khaled, Kanye West, Rihanna, Vic Mensa, Willow Smith, Meek Mill, Shakira, T.I, Big Sean, Angie Martinez and J. Cole, that their plan, with engaging African acts is on a country-by-country basis.
“I got something in Gambia, Gabon and Senegal. We have it all spread out. Even in South Africa I am grabbing one artist out of there.”
Biggs also mentioned that all this is to offer African acts proper structures to help them advance their brands:
“To give them proper distribution in the States and make sure that they are getting proper publishing dollars and royalties. So by using our platform that we already built, we are giving them access to everything we have at our office to help them do the same. Build their brands and their companies like we did ours.”
Founded in 2008, Roc Nation recently signed Nigerian act Tiwa Savage and is reportedly in negotiations wih South African acts Nasty C and Cassper Nyovest.
