Ghanaian dancehall act MzVee has reacted to the lack of support for her BET Awards quest. She told Accra-based Y FM, that while she received decent support from her core fans, it would have also helped to have had it come from a wider spectrum.
“I definitely had support from my true fans but there were people that didn’t agree with the situation but at the end of the day you cannot get everyone to be in the same boat with you. It’s like that in every aspect of life. That said I would have wished people supported me much more because when I came to LA other countries were supporting their people and I hope in the future Ghana will do more. But I think I got the support I needed from my true fans the tip toers . I’m happy with the turn out”, she reveals.
On the role of record label Lynx Entertainment in her successes, she expressed nothing but praise for their nurturing:
“They took me from a place where I was not the happiest person and I was messed up and I had my fair share of deceit but they molded me into the brand that I am today, I say a very thank you to them. They are the reason why I’m here. If they didn’t root for me I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
Born Vera Hanenoo- Kpeda, MzVee this weekend was at the BET Awards which came off at the Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles, in which she had been nominated for Best International Act: Africa. at 24, she’s both Ghana’s youngest and first female nominee for the awards.
