Ghanaian dancehall singer MzVee has lost out on the Best international Act: Africa to South Africa’s Black Coffee, reports say.
The category, which also had other African powerhouses like Wizkid (Nigeria), Yemi Alade (Nigeria), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), Serge Beynaud (Côte d’Ivoire), AKA (South Africa), and Cassper Nyovest (South Africa) was widely expected to be picked up by Wizkid.
Black Coffee (born Nkosinathi Maphumulo on 11 March 1976) is considered a doyen in South African House music. With six platinum selling albums, he has with this award, cemented his place on the African music scene. Black Coffee has won several other awards including Metro FM Awards for Best Dance Album (2010) and Channel O Award for Most Talented Male Artist (2011). He has been associated with Hugh Masekela, Mi Casa among others.
