This weekend, adidas the leading global sports brand is set to power the biggest footballing event in Ghana, as the country makes a giant stride in democracy with the premiere edition of the Vodafone Unity Match.
The event will stage a two-legged football match between an international team of stars. Such iconic names as Samuel Eto’Ó, Jay Jay Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu, Steve McManaman, Edgar Davids, George Boateng, Emmanuel Adebayor, and Ghanaian legends like Stephen Appiah, Laryea Kingston, Richard Kingson, Sulley Muntari, Michael Essien, Kevin Prince Boateng will be donning adidas gear head to toe as they battle against the prolific Kumasi Asante Kotoko and an Asamoah Gyan-led squad of the Black Stars.
Addressing the media ahead of the unveiling of the match jerseys, Valerie Fontanier-Ghajar CEO, Nutmeg Ltd, the official retail partner of adidas Ghana, commented, ‘Football is a highly competitive sport requiring the best performance gear and we as adidas want to ensure that our top players in particular, are kitted in the best of sports gear to give a stellar performance, every time’.
The matches will take place at Baba Yara Stadium on the 8th June followed by Accra Sports Stadia on the 11th June.
