Gospel trio Preachers have been nominated for the Groove Music Awards in Kenya.

The Groove Awards, spomsored by Safaricom, is the biggest award scheme in Eastern and Central Africa. It seeks to celebrate gospel musicians across Africa. This year marks the 11th edition.

The nominees were unveiled at a high profile red carpet event at the Kenya National Theatre on Tuesday, 26th April 2016.

Preachers were nominated in the Western Africa Artiste of the Year category alongside some of Africa’s best gospel artistes, Frank Edwards (Nigeria), Nathaniel Bassey (Nigeria), Onos Brisibi (Nigeria), Sinach (Nigeria) and Tim Godfrey (Nigeria).

Speaking to enewsgh.com, leader of the group Obed Psych said:

“We are overwhelmed at our nomination and in awe at how far God is taking our ministry, we are really thankful. It’s incredible we are the only gospel artistes to be chosen to represent Ghana and that’s really humbling.  We are hopeful of winning this award and bringing it home.”
