Multi-award winning Ghanaian hiphop artist, D-Black has disclosed exclusively to BET Africa that he will be dropping his much anticipated third studio album on March 26.
The rapper, born Desmond Blackmore, has featured an impressive list of acts from the African continent on the album, which is his major release since 2012.
The 15-track album features Nigeria’s M.I Abaga, Davido & Seyi Shay, Vanessa Mdee from Tanzania, South Africa’s Donald & Bucie and Cassper Nyovest. The rest are Nigeria’s Phyno, Praiz and Sean Tizzle. Some of the Ghanaian acts on the ‘Lightwork’ album include BET’s Best International Act: Africa winner Stonebwoy, Castro, Pappy Kojo and VVIP.
The album has tracks such as Champ, Lemme love you, Carry Go, Questions and Elale.
D-Black told BET Africa in an interview that, “I haven’t put an album out in three years – since 2012 album, The Revelation’ that spawned ‘Oh Vera’ and ‘Change Your Life’. This album, ‘Lightwork’, is a collage, a melting pot of so many different genres of music from Highlife to Afrobeat to Hiphop to R&B to Hiplife to Dancehall.” He said he is about to give his fans and Africans an album to remember. “This body of work took me a year and a half to put together.”
D-Black was nominated for the 2011 BET Awards in the Best International Act: Africa category
